Shmuel Linski is using a material, which is often hidden behind walls, floors and paint in your home. I can really think of his work being placed in a lofty apartment, being the eye-catcher par excellence. I also really enjoyed his idea of putting the technical parts of an espresso machine in a concrete shell. My imagination already takes off with oher ideas or machines where you could use concrete...

I would like to know if this extra audio player caused a price increase of the magazine...?!?

Hey friends, for a while now I am in contact with Mathias from VintageVeloBerlin, who refurbishes wondeful vintage racing bikes!! I told him I could help him with a logo and with printing bags for his customers!
Well, today he picked up 50 wonderful designed bags and can now distribute them to his customers! All done by TZ, starting from design to print!!

Discovery Channel has lots of great documentaries. A lot of times they focus on nature and our earth. This new docu is focusing on us, on humans loving, on how we live in every climate on every continent.

At 48 seconds is my favourite image of the video, how the guy jumps off the buit with his javelin to catch a fish! Incredible. I hope German Sky sends this show!

Dear TZ friends, I have been absent for a little bit due to exams at college and the easter break and some projects.
BUT, here I am, back in the blogosphere! I found a great home, again from Studio Guilherme Torres. I have posted one home earlier at TZ, which was stunning!!

This home was created for a DJ and business man in São Paulo. The designers removed the walls completely to create the look they intended. LED lights are integrated in the concrete walls and light up the whole appartment.

What is your opinion on the home?

PS: I hope to shoot some pictures of the first TRENDZETA shirts next weekend, and maybe the next TZ bike will be finished by that too :)

The Perfect Presentation...or at least a good one

Preamble: With this post I am not trying to say that I can make the best, or even a perfect presentation. I just wanted my last presentation at university to, you know, look good or lets say standout a little. Therefore, I gathered some tips that I used and want to share them with you now.

So lets get started.

My friend Eric kinda started all this. He send me two presentations which deal with the craft of making GOOD presentations, or lets put it this way: To not suck at PowerPoin and bore your audience to deatht! You will find the presentations below my key learnings.

Besides those presentations I also watched some videos on youtube, which where about Steve Job's presentation techniques and googled around some more, reading some articles about different techniques from other speakers.

After all this input, I summarized all the key elements of a good presentation for myself and now maybe even for you:
____________________________________________________________________________________

1. Have a really good opening slide (high resolution image, contrast, color, etc).

2. DO NOT USE A PP TEMPLATE. Seriously. Come up with your own color scheme and layout. To check whether a color combo is aesthetic and appealing use www.colorlovers.com. Follow this path to see which color combos people really like: BROWSE > PALETTES > MOST LOVED. At colorlovers you can also see what fashion companies or magazines use!

3. Use really good stunning visuals, such as high resolution pictures and videos. No pixelation. And always remember to design your presentation for the guy in the last row, not for the one in the first (font size etc).

4. There are more fonts than Times New Roman, Arial and Verdana. Check www.dafont.com for some other good ones. I used Delicious in my last presentation.

5. Avoid too much info on one slide. Keep it relevant. And get rid of the university logo on each slide. That is boring.

6. Preparation. You want to sell an experience and not just bore everyone to death. Also try to make it look effortless. Be enthusiastic and passionate. As well, try to engage the audience. Build up your presentation like a movie, with highlights and a climax (e.g."...and I have one more special thing for you..." or "...but the best thing about this is...")

7. Analogies help the audience to connect the dots. Make numbers meaningful such as: "4 million units sold, thats 20.000 a DAY..DANG"

8. Maintain a visual and verbal balance. Make sure the slides complement the speaker without distracting.

9. Extend the presentation beyond the moment, eg. complementary material or put the presentation online.

That's it. I used those tips for my last presentation and got some good feedback. Give it a try. Your presentation just can get better :)

Kochhaus Berlin, Schöneberg

On saturday I had to go to Deko Behrendt in Berlin, Schöneberg, to buy a costume for a carnival party. After standing in line at the shop and struggling with crowd in the shop I had to get a coffee and a little break. Kochhaus was just around the corner. I already saw it on the way to the costume shop and was curious for its offers.

Kochhaus is not sorting their products by category, but by dish! Hence, you don't have to buy a full package of mushrooms, tomatos but just as many as you need for the dish! Isn't that cool?

My girlfriend wasn't the biggest fan of the idea after telling her about the shop, but I'll take her along anyways to buy one of those great pasta dishes for us two :)

Excuse the picture quality, I didn't have my Nikon with me, so I just used my iPhone (yes it's not a iPhone 4 yet).

Downhill Point of View: Valparaiso Polc 2011

Downhill biking is well known, but this type of CITY DOWNHILL is new to me. This crazy donwhill biker is using a HD Hero cam I think and riding down the city of Valparaiso. That is a city in Chile and one of the country's most important seaports.

The point of view while he is rushing down the streets is really breathtaking. It seems that he will knock over a curious watcher any second or hit a lantern every 5 seconds!
Would you park your car as close to the race track as in minute 2:36??? I wouldn't :) !

7 Billion: Are you Typical?

Some of you might have seen the "7 Billion" video by National Geographic.

I watched it a dozen times and still love it. My brother Steffen has send me just another great video by National Geographic. It is called "7 Billion: Are you Typical?", and I also read as a title "The Face of Seven Billion".
What is it about?

It is dealing with the question, of who is most typical on our planet. A male or female, which age, right or left handed, income and so on.

But, just watch it for yourself.

Again, just like the first video from National Geographic, I really like the composition of the video. The music harmonizes with the typographical and illustrational making! Wonderful.

Superette is an Auckland boutique chain and they wanted to promote a short shorts sale. DDB, an Auckland based ad agency says in their press note:

"We put indented plates on bus stop, mall, and park benches, so that when people sat down, the message was imprinted on their thighs. This meant that as well as having branded seats, a veritable army of free media was created, with thousands of imprints being created and lasting up to an hour."

One of the best appartments I have seen in a while. So simple.

I have seen it a while ago and couldnt let go the thoughts of the whole appartment. Therefore, I thought I'd share it. I was also inspired to build something by the pictures. What? You will see in one of my next posts in a little tutorial. Any guesses?

The young Brazilian architect Guilherme Torres is the owner and designer of the studio. It is just 73m² big and the whole rearrangement just cost about 6000$. Unbelievable or not? But as you can guess, the whole process to finish the appartment took 10 years. He assembled all the pieces step by step.

Personally, I like the whole appartment so much because of all the details. The electric circuit is on the wall instead of IN the wall. The concrete table and floor. The combination of all the materials, like wood, concrete, cloth etc. The couch, the wooden ceiling, the windows in the bed room and of course the ON AIR sign below the TV.

Here is the making of, of the bike lock! So cool! I'd love to have that for my bike. For your interest, at the end of the video is the real commercial, which is on German TV!

This might be a topic for a series here on my blog. Because on a small place like a retail store you can do so much to address and strike the customer. The is post NO. 1 of the topic.
I hope you like it and want to have some cool stores as this one around your place.

Store number one uses paper planes on the whole ceiling as a decoration or art, however you want to see it. You want to guess how many planes they used?!...around 5000. Unbelievable.

Well, I just remembered that this post is actually NR.2, since the post about the NY coffe shop might be NR.1 and has been picked up with good feedback by some of you.

PS: Daniel, I really want to have some life pictures from NY :)

Jay-Z's "Decoded" Promotion

Jay-Z's new book "Decoded" is out and available since this November.
Well, to reach all those people out there who have not heard of it, the agency droga5 has come up with some great marketing ways.
They basically printed passages or sentences from the book on the bottom of a pool, on a car or on a table-cloth in a restaurant.

In my opinion, this is a great way to adress the target group not just visually, but also emotionally. I hope some other authors or companys will pick this idea up and maybe even develop it further.
