House from Architect Guilherme Torres

Guilherme Torres Home

One of the best appartments I have seen in a while. So simple.

I have seen it a while ago and couldnt let go the thoughts of the whole appartment. Therefore, I thought I'd share it. I was also inspired to build something by the pictures. What? You will see in one of my next posts in a little tutorial. Any guesses?

The young Brazilian architect Guilherme Torres is the owner and designer of the studio. It is just 73m² big and the whole rearrangement just cost about 6000$. Unbelievable or not? But as you can guess, the whole process to finish the appartment took 10 years. He assembled all the pieces step by step.

Personally, I like the whole appartment so much because of all the details. The electric circuit is on the wall instead of IN the wall. The concrete table and floor. The combination of all the materials, like wood, concrete, cloth etc. The couch, the wooden ceiling, the windows in the bed room and of course  the ON AIR sign below the TV.

Get your own impression. More pictures and German information at Studio5555, where I have also seen the appartment first.

Container Thinking

Imagine a two story house, for under 50 grand, which you can furnish with whatever you want and place walls whereever you want. Or just add a office building for some bucks.

All that is possible with old ship containers.
Just googling "container home" gives you so many ideas of what is possible with so little money. Better than any flat or town house.
They also make great and affordable office spaces and retail shops. How flexible.

Thinking of ways how to arrange them for my personal interests makes me so creative.

Antón García Abril "La Trufa"

Well if I would have enough money I would go out in the woods and start building this amazing piece of art that I have just seen on the web.

In English this piece is called "The Truffle".

Antón García Abril is a Spanish musician and composer but his creative mind produced this "building" as well.

The Truffle involved pouring concrete over hay bales stacked and burried inside soil from the surroundings.
Some more steps created a space within a stone that sits on the ground and blends with the territory.

Enjoy this video and the urgent felling of wanting to go out and get creative.
